ZERKALL

The Zerkall Mill had its origins in the 16th century and has been owned and operated by the Renker family for four generations. It is located in the valley of the small river named Kall in the hilly countryside south of the city of Dueren between Cologne and Aachen. The mill mixes exacting amounts of cotton rag and high alpha cellulose to obtain sheets that are strong, yet able to absorb ink without bleeding.

Although the mill now only manufactures mouldmade papers, their sheets mirror papers of the past while incorporating modern technology to insure stability and permanence. All their papers are acid free, neutral sized, alkaline buffered with calcium carbonate and contain no optical brighteners.

One of their neutral pH, satin smooth sheets is converted especially for New York Central in a custom pad, called Zerkall Smooth.

FRANKFURT - mouldmade of a mixture of cotton and high alpha cellulose. Unusual, wavy laid surface replicates sheets formed when a fine silk cloth was stretched across the mould to give the sheet a fine, smooth surface without plating.

Colors:

NIDEGGEN - mouldmade of a mixture of cotton and high alpha cellulose. Unusual, wavy laid surface similar to that of Frankfurt. Tan with tiny black flecking.

INGRES - mouldmade of 100% high alpha cellulose, 2 deckles and 2 torn edges. Slightly textured, laid surface. Neutral pH.
