HAHNEMUHLE

On February 27, 1584, Duke Erich of Germany issued a proclamation stating that papermaker Martin Spies was allowed to establish a paper mill to supply His Highness and His Domain with fine handmade papers. In 1886, the new owner, Carl Hahne, gave the mill the name Hahnemühle, and became the regular supplier of many European houses of nobility.

Buttenpapierfabrik Hahnemühle installed their first cylinder machines in 1925, yet continued to make handmade sheets until 1967 when it converted entirely to mouldmade production. The mill has been highly regarded by many of the world's finest printing houses and continues to advance in production for all techniques, including digital reproduction.

BUGRA BUTTEN - mouldmade of 100% high alpha cellulose.  Double Sided with a wide laid surface on one side and a lightly mottled smooth surface on the other side. The pigmentation of these sheets is unusually subtle and beautiful. 2 deckles. Neutral pH. Available in pads.

COPPERPLATE - mouldmade from 100% high alpha cellulose with a vellum surface.2 deckles, 2 torn edges. Neutral pH.  Also available in rolls

GUTENBERG LAID - mouldmade from 100% high alpha cellulose; laid surface with 4 deckles. Light tan speckled with brown. Neutral pH.
