Papermaking in the Philippines
The Philippines has no verifiable historical data on handmade paper making. But it is believed that the craft existed as early as the Hispanic period. Today, handmade paper makers and converters can be found all over the country. Among the provinces where the craft is gaining adherents are: Laguna, Quezon, Baguio, Ifugao, Bicol, Pampanga, Iloilo, Aklan, Negros, Leyte, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Metro Manila
REVERSIBLE ABACA - machine made of 100% abaca with small inclusions of salago, banana and rice straw for visual texture. Two different colors are couched together during the papermaking process. Smooth texture, no deckles.
