IZUMO MINGEI MITSUMATA-SHI

Following family tradition, these beautiful sheets are handmade of 100% mitsumata by the grandsons of the late Mr. Eishiro Abe, the very first papermaker to be designated as a National Living Treasure by the Japanese Government. Mitsumata yields a sheet that has a smooth, lustrous quality similar to gampi, but with a warmer, softer touch. The web of fine papers absorbs the colorants with a slight irregularity, giving the sheets especially rich, shimmering tonalities. 4 deckles, neutral pH.

KOZO MORIKI - handmade from kozo and sulphite pulp. Neutral pH. Strong, soft, laid surface. 4 deckles.

For more than 25 years, Moriki Colors have been a staple of Japanese papers here in the United States. Unfortunately, we have been informed by the mill that they are no longer able to make this grade of colored papers.

Kozo Moriki is a similar grade made by another mill. These sheets have more kozo content and are in a different range of colors. For replacement of the old Moriki colors, please refer to Yatsuo.
